Army Ammo Handler Course

Performs receipt, storage, issue, shipment, and processing of unit returns and remarking of Class V ammunition items in accordance with Army and Fort Benning policies, procedures, directives, and regulations. Verifies materials/merchandise against receiving documents and notates discrepancies and damages. Conducts wall-to-wall inventories; manages and interprets magazine data cards, ammunition store slips, storage plan-O-graphs, and DA form 3151-R’s and 581’s.

Who is Army Ammo Handler?

The Army ammo handler course is a course that is designed for military personnel and civilians who work in hazardous materials management (HCM&M). The course is conducted in-person and includes the required training and certification. Upon completion of the course, the student will be qualified to work in any position that requires handling hazardous materials.

The Ammunition Handler is responsible for the accomplishment of duties in accordance with Army and Fort Benning policies, procedures, directives, and regulations. These activities include storage, receipt, inspection, classification, and repackaging of ammunition items within the ASP. In addition, the Ammunition Handler processes Unit Turn-In, Amnesty, Found on Post, and remarking of ammunition containers. The Ammunition Handler also ensures the physical security of assigned storage locations/work areas by observing key control procedures and adhering to OHSA/CALOSHA policies and regulations.

The Ammunition Handler is a highly skilled and competent professional who can positively impact the Company. This position demands high ethical standards, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and an ability to work independently. The Ammunition Handler is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the ammunition records and inventory systems and providing excellent customer service. In addition, the Ammunition Handler is responsible for ensuring that all ammunition is properly labeled and accounted for when transferred between units.

ASP Ammo Handler Responsibilities

The Army ammo handler course is an essential training program that prepares military personnel to perform ammunition-related tasks. It includes instruction on handling, receiving, and distributing ammunition. The course also teaches students how to maintain and repair ammunition storage facilities and equipment. Students also learn how to inspect and verify the quality of ammunition.

The course is designed to provide an overview of the military’s hazardous materials shipping process. It teaches military personnel how to identify paperwork, markings, and containers to ensure they are safe for transport. This training is required for all military uniformed personnel whose duties classify them as HAZMAT employees. The course is available as an online version or a classroom-based program.

The ASP Ammo Handler is responsible for accomplishing ammunition-related activities and support services per Army and Fort Benning policies, procedures, directives, and regulations. The Ammo Handler is also responsible for the storage, receipt, issue, shipment, and processing unit returns of Class V ammunition items. Additionally, the Ammo Handler will remark ammunition containers in accordance with military standards. He/She will also verify materials/merchandise against the receipt documents and report discrepancies or damages. In addition, he/she will operate material handling equipment (i.e., forklifts, pallet jacks). In addition, the Ammo Handler is responsible for the restocking and re-marking of bunker ammunition in accordance with Army and company directives.
