Military Appreciation Month

The military appreciation month or the National Military Appreciation Month is the month where we appreciate the military. Since 1999, the military appreciation month has been May of every year. Although not much happens during the military appreciation month, the President usually makes a proclamation and talks about the importance of the military. During the military appreciation month, many businesses nationwide offer discounts to both veterans and those that are serving in the military. 

Communities generally hold a picnic or large gatherings in public places to honor their local soldiers, whether they are serving in the National Guard, Army, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Navy, or Air Force. The military appreciation month is also observed in schools, reminding school kids of the importance of the US Armed Forces to our country.

From the first day of May to the last, the military appreciation month is observed. 

What can I do in military appreciation month?

There are several things you can do to participate in the military appreciation month. Most Americans would prefer volunteering for the veterans whether they’re in a care center or living nearby. If you have a family member or friend in the military, you can honor their achievements. 

Since most communities have gatherings of some sort in public places, you can participate in them and show your appreciation for the military. Schools also have events that parents are allowed to come to the events for appreciating the military. 

Before you wonder if May is the National Military Appreciation Month, ensure that you participate in one of the local events to celebrate and show your appreciation of the United States Armed Forces.
